The Cursed Men

Narrative Designer

I was in charge of weaving the mechanics with the game's narrative, as well as designing mechanics that blended elements of the narrative into gameplay. I was also in charge of translating the story the game was based on into gameplay, including individual levels, encounters, and questlines.

Level Designer

I was in charge of designing some of the locations the player would visit, including the bakery, the botanist's shop, and the tailor's shop.

Pixel Artist

I helped the art team by creating some pixel art assets for use in the game.

Character Designer

I created NPCs for use in the game. This includes their physical appearance, their backgrounds, their relationships with each other, their interactions with the player, and how their side-stories stories progress as the main plot continues.

Quest Designer

I designed the questline that players would engage with during the prototype.

Writer

I wrote the dialogue for NPC interactions, as well as translated the dialogue of the original story into gameplay interactions, and used it to create barks and banter between characters.

The Cursed Men is a story-driven 2.5 RPG, that combines both hack-and-slash gameplay and Spanish language learning. The story centers around Athel, a timid monk who must overcome his anxieties when he discovers a conduit for magical powers and an ancient woman hidden deep in the forest.
